Day 75 – The Value Of Conduit

Weekly Theme – Praying for a love of the Word of God

Today – Prayer that we see the Bible as a conduit for the Holy Spirit in our lives.

Scripture – Acts 20:24

If the plumbing in your house is plugged up, you have some work ahead of you (or at the very least, you’ll be paying someone to address it.) If some of the veins in your body are plugged up, certainly a visit to the doctor is in your future and steps need to be taken to ensure that the plugged area will again function as it should. Plugs are often bad and hinder proper movement in our lives.

A conduit on the other hand,  is extremely useful and beneficial to our lives. Wires and water move freely through a conduit and help us live our lives in comfort and convenience. Conduits are rarely seen but extremely beneficial in our lives and most certainly in our spiritual lives as well.

Read Acts 20:24 again.  “But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus–the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.” The Apostle Paul wanted his life to count for Jesus and he was committed to finish well by faithfully following the path laid out before him.  We too, should feel that same desire for our lives, wanting to make each day count for Jesus. But how does that happen? How do we get in the proper place to best understand where God would take us?

We need to understand that when we take the time to read the Word of God, we are opening up a conduit to allow the Holy Spirit to move in our lives. By taking the time to read the Scriptures and get to know Jesus more, we are opening up greater opportunities for the Holy Spirit to speak and direct us. Guess what else you may discover in reading the Scripture? You may realize that there are some plugs (sin) that is backing up your spiritual life and it needs to be addressed.

Themes to pray today

  • Pray for a passion to make your life count for the Kingdom of God
  • Ask God, as you move to Scripture, to reveal the plugs in your life that need removal
  • Pray for the Holy Spirit to challenge, comfort, lead you as you read the Bible

A prayer for us all

Heavenly Father, thank You for the Word of God which is profitable for teaching; rebuking; correcting and training in righteousness. May we individually and collectively be on our spiritual guard, not only for our own well-being but also for those that You have seen fit to place in our lives. Give grace and wisdom to all who are called to be your children, and protect all believers .  May our passion be for your Word, to hear your Spirit and live the life You have called us to. Protect the hearts and minds of all Your children and guide each one of us into the way of truth – this we ask in Jesus name, AMEN.
