Step Six: Growing Your Faith

from SoulConnect

Since the beginning of the Christian path 2,000 years ago, each succeeding generation has faced unique challenges and circumstances. Over the centuries, the Holy Spirit has been at work, shaping various traditions and cultures within the Christian community. While denominations have multiplied and interpretations of Scripture have diversified, the core message has remained steadfast and resilient, standing the test of time.

Even today, after two millennia, the essence of the Christian journey continues to be about knowing, serving, and loving a God who has triumphed over sin and death. As a result, you are not just a bystander but an active participant, a child of God, both forgiven and reborn as a new creation. You are in a relationship of everlasting peace.

Like any intimate relationship, our connection with God goes beyond intellectual understanding to inner peace and transformation.

Step Six encourages you to deepen your knowledge and experience of God and Christianity. This step transcends academic exploration. It serves as a critical component of your spiritual transformation.

Step Six can encompass various activities, including but not limited to learning more about worship and prayer or diving deeper into Bible study. The goal is to broaden and deepen your understanding of Christianity, thereby nurturing a more intimate relationship with God, who is not just the Supreme Being but also your personal and eternal friend.

Reflection:

Reflect on the importance of growing your faith. Consider the following questions:

  • What spiritual practices are helping you grow your faith?
  • How do you plan to deepen your understanding of God’s word?
  • How involved are you in a spiritual community?

Discussion:

Share your thoughts with your group or accountability partner. Discuss the impact of spiritual practices, Bible study, and community involvement on your faith journey.

Application:

  • Explore new ways to incorporate spiritual practices into your daily routine.
  • Dedicate time to in-depth study of God’s word to gain a deeper understanding.
  • Consider joining a spiritual community or group for mutual encouragement and growth.

Next, we will explore Step 7: Sharing Your Story.
