I Am More Than a ConquerorFrom You Version

God is looking for those with whom He can do the impossible — what a pity that we plan only the things that we can do by ourselves. — AW Tozer

A conqueror is someone wins or overcomes something. In Christ, we aren’t just conquerors but more than conquerors. What this means is that we’re able to endure and make it through anything by the miraculous power of God that resides within us. We have to step into it and walk by faith until we see this become our reality.

You may be wondering, “What do I have to conquer?” Plenty. We overcome:

Ourselves

Our human desires want things that are contrary to God’s best for us. Galatians 5:17 tells us that our flesh and spirit are in a constant battle. Yet, too often we give into our fleshly desires. It’s in these moments that we have to decide who will win: us or God.

Attacks

Not only do we have our fleshly aspirations that woo us away from God’s ultimate plan, but we have a spiritual enemy as well. He hates us and throws his arrows of doubt, discouragement, fear, anger, and hatred at us hoping that one of them will make contact with us. We must be on our guard, ready to live in victory by God’s mighty power.

If we could only understand that we have immense power available to us whenever any problem or trouble comes.

That career challenge we are facing? We are more than conquerors.

That relational hiccup that’s overwhelming us? We are more than conquerors.

That physical issue that’s causing pain? We are more than conquerors.

That financial strain that’s worrying us? We are more than conquerors.

That mental burden we are bearing? We are more than conquerors.

When we face any challenge, we don’t just have Christ’s power to conquer and defeat it—we have the power to subdue, crush, and overthrow it. Our problems don’t stand a chance, because His enormous power makes us more than conquerors.

Reflect

  • In your own words, write down what “I am more than a conqueror”means to you.
  • Repeat “I am more than a conqueror” throughout your day — set a timer and say it every hour so that it will be deeply rooted in you. Write it on a card and place it where you can see it often.
  • Think of a situation you have faced or will face where you can apply this truth.
